Today marked the beginning of a beautiful friendship!
About 3 months ago I received My Fitness Trainer for Wii as a motivation tool.
WARNING:
Those of you that don't know me personally are going to find out today that I do have a
funny-sarcastic side.
Maya, my virtual trainer, begins with asking me a series of questions to detect where she should begin with me.....okay.
First, she never uses my name, says hello, or nice to meet you. She just wants to know my measurements, weight, height, age, pulse rate at rest. I was waiting for her to ask me for my phone number and social security number...
She then wants me to do jumping jacks for 2 minutes to get my heart rate up so she can "tell what the pulse rate is after activity". Okay so I need to enter a number between 0 and 50 in that time. No problem really. Then I began doing the jumping jacks at the same rate the icon was on the screen. I got to 10 and Lord, have mercy my thighs are burning! I kept pushing myself and got to 24. I put that number in and then she wants me to do push-ups and crunches.
(Did I mention that it was only 6am and I'm working today?! And I doubt that she knew that either..lol)
So now she proceeds to tell me that I'm out of shape, obese, and need to make a commitment to a workout routine with her. I looked at the screen and was shocked that she had the nerve to tell me that I'm out of shape and obese! (duh, why was I using that program..hello)
I planned on just watching the workout the first time through to see what she was going to do. I decided to go ahead and participate. After only 3 minutes, Maya, my new bff, was trying to kill me!! For 15 minutes, she led me through some routine exercises. One of which was side crunches...what the heck is that? I'd never heard of those, but I felt them! Not 2 but 3 reps of 10 on each side I might add.
After every 5 minutes, she'd ask me to rate how I was feeling:
1-didn't break a sweat
2-hanging in there
3-you're lucky I'm here
I chose number 2 each time for fear that she would increase my workout without me getting the hang of it yet. (Thank goodness I decided to go along with her because she's asking me how I'm feeling during the workout)
All in all she shares with me that I've burned 33 calories....WHAT?! She tried to kill me and I only burned 33 calories?! She made it a point to remind me that she'll "see" me Thursday. Okay, maybe we're getting off on the wrong foot here. I'll give her another chance, but if you don't hear from my in 10 days...call in the troops and take Maya down for me please...lol
She'll re-evaluate me every 10 days, so I'm going to make a go of it and see what happens;)
